In some ways, our lives are like a game of cards. We all want the winning hand, yet we have no control over how the cards are dealt. However, we can choose how we will play them. Sometimes, we make the mistake of treating life like a game of poker, where we try to make the other players believe we have something we don’t. That is when we begin to gamble. Even with discipline and an understanding of the risk versus reward, we can win only for a while before the odds beat us. God wants us to take each hand we are dealt…the good ones and the bad ones…and rely on Him to show us how to play them. Life is not about winning, but about the journey.
