Best is yet to Come Of Jesus’ many miracles, one of the best known is when He turned water into wine at a wedding in Cana. Running out of wine at a wedding was an unacceptable social blunder. At the wedding celebration in Cana, such a situation was about to embarrass the bridegroom. Then, at the request of His mother, Jesus set about saving the day. Taking several pots that were normally used for ceremonial cleansing, he filled them with water and then, miraculously, turned the water into wine and served some to the master. It was exceptional wine, prompting the master to exclaim to the bridegroom, “Most people serve the good wine first and when the guests have had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have saved the best for last.” What a great message to us: Jesus’ miracle not only reiterates His promise of provision -we will not run out of wine - it reveals that the wine we drink now is the “cheap wine” compared to the wine in His Kingdom to come. When we let go of this secular world and grasp the promises of Heaven, we will understand that He has certainly “saved the best for last.” John 2:1-11 Previous | Next |
